teaching * visual art practice 〰️

This page details my private teaching sessions. I offer individual and group sessions, both online (worldwide) and in person (London).

I’ve taught in higher education for 10 years, starting in 19th century drawing and painting and moving into contemporary fine art practice. I am currently the Fine Art BA First Year Lead at City & Guilds of London Art School, where I have taught on the BA & MA since 2019.

If you have any questions about these sessions, or if you are interested but don’t feel you can afford the price stated, then please get in touch for sliding scale options.

VISUAL ART PRACTICE | GROUP SESSION | 14TH JUNE
£45.00

14th of June | 1.30 - 5.30pm | Thames Side Studios, Woolwich

The group sessions are similar to an art school crit. You will bring a physical work (where possible) and present this work for up to 5 minutes. You’ll then receive 30 minutes of feedback, hearing from the whole group.

It is recommended that everyone bring a question for the group around their work. Then, holding the idea of critical generosity in mind we will listen for the individuality of everyone’s concerns and give specialised feedback in response.

Tea and snacks will be provided.

This session will take place in the education space (with a riverside view) at Thames Side Studios in Woolwich, SE18 5NR.

VISUAL ART PRACTICE | 1-ON-1 SESSION | STANDARD
£112.00

90 mins | Online (worldwide) | In Person (London) | £75 per hour

1-on-1 sessions are catered to you. It could simply be that you want another pair of eyes on your work, or it may be that you’re working through a specific tension between your conceptual and material development.

Examples of areas that we could focus on are:

- critical and technical development

- conceptual and theoretic development

- studio and time management

- curation and exhibition planning

- specialised drawing and painting techniques

I always recommend a 90 minute session so we can get to the core of your questioning. A typical 90 minute structure looks like:

- 30 minute introduction to the work

- 40 minute discussion around material, conceptual and research development

- 20 minute practical planning toward the development

If you would like an in person session then I can travel to you or you are welcome to visit me at Thames Side Studios in Woolwich.
